I completed Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Botany, Chemistry and Zoology (2005) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Botany (2007) from University of Lucknow, Lucknow, India. After qualifying Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering-GATE (2007) and later CSIR-National Eligibility Test (CSIR-NET) exam twice (2007 June & 2007 December), I entered in field of professional research. I earned my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, a pioneer research institute, affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI, or CDRI) is component of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), India’s central research organization which is 9th best government funded research organization in world. I have received Dr. M.M. Dhar Best Thesis Award for my thesis research as Ph.D. student. I had the privilege to join Prof. Ilia Baskakov’s laboratory at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and subsequently Prof. Ajit Varki’s group in the Glycobiology Research & Training Center at University of California San Diego for postdoctoral training. I have also pursued a short duration MBA program -MicroMBA at University of California, San Diego.
I find myself a ‘learning’ multidisciplinary biochemist and want continue my research, focusing towards Sialic acid biology with overlap of host-pathogen interactions, infectious diseases, inflammation, cancer, antimicrobial approaches and other relevant areas in biological science.
