SAUP - MISSION

The Saup Foundation provides education and holistic wellness to impoverished children with disabilities in the farming municipality of San Simon, Pampanga, Philippines, forging their paths towards sustainable and interdependent futures. Our goal is to ensure no child is abandoned breaking barriers, unlocking potential, and fostering inclusivity for a brighter tomorrow.

The Saup Foundation is founded by Edirose Lapid - and centered on the values that defined the life of her late mother, Emerenciana Yabut Flores Lapid, as well as her first-born child, Láwû Makuriye’nte. Láwû conceptualized and wrote the following vision with their mother, months before tragically passing away in a highway accident on March 1st, 2025.

Láwû Makuriye’nte

We are a collective of Filipino immigrants working in Bergen County, New Jersey. We are all children who were raised on our families’ farms across small villages in Pampanga and Davao, Philippines. Born in abundant, agriculturally rich soils of our homelands, our elders rooted us in the tradition of redistributing organic food to our neighbors, extending financial and material support to others suffering from poverty, and organizing collective gatherings filled with performance and entertainment to uplift the depression of our fellow kabarrio (kindred spirits/neighbors).

We are carrying this tradition forward as OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers), by providing mutual aid to the marginalized communities of Bergen County, curating Filipino-centered festivals to raise awareness and monetary support for environmental crises in the Philippines, and supporting the education of children living with disabilities in San Simon, Pampanga, Philippines.

Láwû´s vision of the SAUP Fundation is based on these Kampangan values, passed down by Emerenciana, their maternal grandmother.
