Stand approximately 2 feet away from a wall- facing the wall.
With your script in front of you, read your lines in a quiet voice- directly to the wall.
Repeat, but this time you will read in a loud (not yelling) voice.
Now hold your script behind your back and see how much you can remember.
Mark a light dot on your script to indicate how far you got.
Repeat the steps above at least 3 times. (Each time, mark a dot to see how far you got.)
Number your page according to how many lines you have. (If there are 10 sentences, number 1-10, etc.)
Write the FIRST WORD ONLY for each of your lines (sentences).
Then use a different color to write the most important word of the sentence. (Ex. If the 1st line is " My mother always told me the most outrageous bedtime stories," my #1 would look like this: 1. MY OUTRAGEOUS) So you will ONLY write TWO of the words in each line. Do the same for each sentence.
See if you can recite your lines using only your cheat sheet.
Sit or stand facing each other
Take turns reading your OWN monologue to each other OUT LOUD (only loud enough so you can hear each other)
Switch papers & now read the OTHER person's monologue to each other OUT LOUD.
Then take turns seeing how much of your own monologue you can remember without looking.
Record yourself or a partner saying the line right before yours,
and then record yourself saying your actual lines very slowly (way slower than you would actually say them)
Play the recorded version back, pausing after the cue line ; then pause the recording to see if you can remember your line.
When you play the recording back- you can try to complete the line faster than your recorded voice.
