On 28 January 2026, the SATREPS POME Project* successfully conducted a one-day Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) training at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
One of the key objectives of the SATREPS POME Project is to widely share the research outcomes and technologies developed through the project with both public and private sectors, thereby promoting their social implementation. In this context, the introduction and effective utilization of LCA is regarded as essential. The LCA training was organized as an important initiative toward achieving this objective.
To ensure the quality and relevance of the training, lecturers with specialized knowledge and practical experience in the palm oil and palm oil mill effluent (POME) sectors—the core focus areas of the project—were invited. Two highly experienced experts from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) served as instructors and delivered comprehensive lectures based on real-world applications.
The training program consisted of three sessions: Fundamentals of LCA, LCA Framework and Methodology, and Case Studies and Practical Applications. Approximately 40 participants attended the training, which provided valuable insights and significantly enhanced their understanding of LCA concepts and applications.
