Gunes Karabulut Kurt (Senior Member, IEEE) is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, Montreal, QC, Canada. She received the B.S. degree with high honors in electronics and electrical engineering from the Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2000 and the M.A.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. From 2000 to 2005, she was a Research Assistant at the University of Ottawa. Between 2005 and 2006, Gunes was with TenXc Wireless, Canada. From 2006 to 2008, she was with Edgewater Computer Systems Inc., Canada. From 2008 to 2010, she was with Turkcell Research and Development Applied Research and Technology, Istanbul. Gunes has been with Istanbul Technical University between 2010 and 2021. She is a Marie Curie Fellow and has received the Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist (TÜBA-GEBIP) Award in 2019. She is an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University. She is also currently serving as an Associate Technical Editor (ATE) of the IEEE Communications Magazine and a member of the IEEE WCNC Steering Board.

Ángeles Vázquez-Castro (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunications engineering from Vigo University, Spain, in 1994 and 1998, respectively, and the M.Sc. degree in analytical philosophy from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2015.,Untill 2002, she worked with the University Carlos III University, Madrid, and the University of Southern California (Los Angeles), as an Assistant and a Visiting Professor, respectively. From 2002 to 2004, she held a Research Fellow position with the European Space Agency to work at the Space Research and Technology Centre, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. From 2008 to 2012, she was a part-time Visiting Professor with the University of Oslo, UNIK, Norway. Since 2004, she has been an Associate Professor with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. She has been a member of the Centre for Space Research (CERES), Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC), since 2016. She has authored and coauthored more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 13 book chapters, and one co-edited book on Network Coding and Subspace Designs, (Springer, 2018). She is an inventor or a co-inventor of three patents. Her research results have been used for the development of satellite Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) satellite communication standards, such as DVB-SH (contributing on channel models), DVB-RCS (contributing on packet-level coding), DVB-S2 (contributing on optimization of adaptive coding and modulation), and the International Telecommunication Union Radio, ITU-R (contributing on resource management optimization). Her current research is (classical and quantum) information and communication theory with application to secure, reliable, and robust space communication and networking.
Tomaso de Cola (Member, IEEE) was born in Manosque, France, in April 1977. He received the “Laurea” degree (with Hons.) in telecommunication engineering, in 2001, and the Qualification degree as Professional Engineer in 2002 and the Ph.D. degree in electronic and computer engineering, robotics and telecommunications from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 2010. From 2002 until 2007, he has worked with the Italian Consortium of Telecommunications, University of Genoa Research Unit, as a Scientist Researcher. Since 2008, he has been with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), where he is involved in different European Projects focusing on different aspects of DVB standards, CCSDS protocols and testbed design. He has coauthored of more than 80 papers, including international conferences and journals. His main research activity concerns TCP/IP protocols, satellite networks, transport protocols for wireless links, and interplanetary networks as well as delay-tolerant networks. Dr. de Cola has served on the technical program committee at several IEEE International Conferences and served as a Guest Editor for IEEE Network, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, and IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine. He currently serves as an Editor for IEEE Communication Letters, Wireless Communication Letters, and Computer Networks (Elsevier). He has served a Chair of the Satellite and Space Communications Technical Committee within ComSoc from 2017 to 2020 and he is currently appointed as Area Director of the Space-Internetworking Services within the CCSDS standardization body, as well as a Chair of the SatCom working group within the ETP NetworldEurope platform.
Halim Yanikomeroglu (Fellow, IEEE), Carleton University, Canada: Halim Yanikomeroglu received the BSc degree in EE from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey (1990), and the MASc and PhD degrees in ECE from the University of Toronto, Canada (1992 and 1998). Since 1998 he has been with the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University, Canada, where he is now a Full Professor. His research interests cover many aspects of 5G/6G wireless networks. His collaborative research with industry resulted in 39 granted patents. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Canadian Academy of Engineering; he is a Distinguished Speaker for IEEE ComSoc and IEEE VTS. He is the current Chair of IEEE WCNC (Wireless Communications and Networking Conference) Steering Committee; he is also a member of IEEE PIMRC Steering Committee. He was the Technical Program Chair/Co-Chair of IEEE WCNC 2004 (Atlanta), WCNC 2008 (Las Vegas), and WCNC 2014 (Istanbul). He was the General Chair of IEEE VTC 2010-Fall (Ottawa) and VTC 2017-Fall (Toronto). He also served as the Chair of the IEEE’s Technical Committee on Personal Communications. Dr. Yanikomeroglu received several awards including the IEEE ComSoc Wireless Communications Technical Committee Recognition Award (2018), IEEE VTS Stuart Meyer Memorial Award (2020), and IEEE ComSoc Fred W. Ellersick Prize (2021).
