Sassafras is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed, Certified Trick Dog Instructor, AKC CGC/Trick Dog Evaluator, and Level 2 AKC FIT DOG Instructor. Sassafras is also a Fear Free Certified Professional.  Sassafras’ work focuses on multi-media education for dogs and people. Their goal is to find ways to help people and dogs communicate better with eachother, and have more fun together! Sassafras is especially passionate about finding ways to make dog sports more welcoming and accepting for dogs and handlers.

Sassafras is passionate about the sport of Trick Dog and able to evaluate trick dog titles for both AKC and DMWYD for dog and handler teams. Trick Dog titles can be earned remotely by sending videos to Sassafras to evaluate.  Sassafras’ dog Sirius has been the #1 Newfoundland in the AKC National Trick Dog Competition four times, and a 2025 outstanding performance as a senior dog.  Sirius was the first Newfoundland in the world to earn the prestigious Grand Champion Trick Dog Title from DMWYD. Sassafras' puppy Rodeo is the #1 AHT Trick Dog in the 2025 AKC National Trick Dog Competition, and together Sirius & Rodeo received an outstanding performance honor in the competition. Rodeo was the first American Hairless Terrier to earn the DMWYD Champion Trick Dog Title.

AKC Trick Dog Title Evaluations:

Sassafras evaluates AKC trick dog titles Novice – Elite Performer, as well as Virtual Home Manners Adult/Puppy titles. For AKC Trick Dog title evaluations Sassafras charges a sliding scale/pay what you can rate of $10-25. Elite Performer evaluations are $35 because of the cost of mailing the rosette ribbon. Trick dog title evaluations include  the evaluation, and Sassafras sending yoru dog the earned official ribbon, and and vinyl trick dog stickers.

DMWYD Title Evaluations:

Sassafras charges $7 for evaluating DMWYD Trick Dog titles which includes the title evaluation and Sassafras sending yoru dog a vinyl trick dog sticker.
