Sarranya Banerjee is conducting his doctoral study from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi since September 2020. He has graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur in June 2020, with Five-Year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) Dual Degree. His areas of research interest are vibration control systems in structural engineering (including base isolation, tuned mass dampers, and hybrid vibration control devices), earthquake engineering, multi-hazard engineering, bridge engineering, and structural health monitoring.
Sarranya has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and attended various major international conferences. He received the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) for excellence during his doctoral study. Further, he is the recipient of the esteemed Suzuki Foundation Fellowship for a six-month research stay in the Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) Japan. Later, he also received the respected Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) [now, Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)] for a 13-month research stay in Purdue University, United States of America (USA).
Along with these invaluable learning experiences received by Sarranya through these international research visits, he is an active participant and member of various professional societies, such as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), USA, and Council of Vibration Specialists (CVS), India. Further, he contributes to academia as a peer reviewer in various international journals like Structures, Elsevier; and, ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems, ASCE.
