Associate Professor Kate Gunn leads a team of behavioural science-focused researchers at the University of South Australia who work with farmers and other rural people to understand their health and mental health-related strengths and challenges, and co-develop meaningful solutions to them. She is particularly passionate about finding creative and impactful ways to improve the wellbeing of farming families, prevent suicide and improve rural cancer outcomes. In 2018, Kate founded ifarmwell.com.au. She is also a Churchill Fellow, has published more than 90 academic papers in national and international journals, and brings to this role experience from working as a Clinical Psychologist, as well as from growing up on a farm near Streaky Bay.
Professor Keith McNeil is a globally respected healthcare leader with over 40 years of experience spanning clinical excellence, executive leadership, and digital health transformation. As Commissioner of the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health (CEIH, SA Health), he is at the forefront of reshaping South Australia’s health system to be more innovative, equitable, and patient-centred. Professor McNeil’s career began in heart and lung transplantation and pulmonary vascular disease, before evolving into senior leadership roles including Chief Executive of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the UK, CEO of Metro North Hospital and Health Service in Queensland, and Chief Clinical Information Officer for the NHS.
In his current role at CEIH, Professor McNeil is driving a bold vision for healthcare in South Australia - one where research and innovation are embedded into everyday practice, and where equity is not an aspiration but a standard. Under his leadership, CEIH is working to ensure that rural and remote communities are not left behind. By fostering strong partnerships with clinicians, consumers, and communities, and by leveraging data and digital tools, he is helping to bridge the gap in health outcomes across the state.
