Collaborative Project

Scottish Autism Research Group Collaboration

The Scottish Autism Research Group is pleased to announce that we will be supporting a multi-site collaboration project.

This project will be facilitated by the SARG committee to help researchers based at Scottish institutions develop networks across Scotland and to develop good open science in the field of autism. Collaborators may wish to form a group to develop a project proposal, to develop a grant proposal, and/or to contribute to data collection.

The aim of the workshop is for people who are interested in research to network, identify areas of shared interest and of shared priority, in order to develop research projects.

We do not have research funding for a collaborative project – therefore part of the discussion in the workshop will surround what we would want a collaborative project to achieve.

Suggested discussion topics for the workshop are:

1) what would you want a collaborative project to achieve?

2) what is feasible to achieve within a collaborative project – what time/resource would people want to give to this?

3) What questions/themes are our priorities?

4) And would these themes turn into a collaborative project?

We envisage that each group will come up with a number of themes/research topics. These will be collated by the SARG committee and then shared by SARG with the workshop participants. Participants can volunteer to lead on projects and form working groups. If people are interested in taking a project forward email addresses will be shared within the interested group.

Those submitting to the conference were asked to identify some themes that they were interested in.

These included:

· Mental health

· Ageing

· Access and Support for participation and inclusion

· Autism Understanding

· Schools

· Social relationships
