FRANK AND BARBARA PRO DAHL
Frank obtained entry to his homestead, the SW 2-39-21-W2nd on September 19, 1905.
He built a small log house in April of the following spring, in which he lived until the end of September 1906. From then until May 1908 he lived with his parents and family on the NE 10-40-20-W2nd which was his father John's homestead. He then lived in his log cabin.
He obtained the Patent for his homestead in 1909. Frank was born Februar y 5, 1886 in Millerville, Minnesota, the son of John and Mary Prodahl (nee Lach) who had a large family.
On August 17, 1909, he exchanged marriage vows with Barbara Braun in St. Ann's church with Father Hogo Tell as the celebrant. Their witnesses were Anthony Prodahl and Mary Braun, and Bill Dauk as Mass server. The wedding reception was held at the Nick Braun home.
Frank and Barbara had ten children.
Martha born June 10, 1910. She marred Henry Weiland October 4, 1932 at Lake Lenore. They moved to Crookston, Min- nesota where Henry passed awa y Februar y 15, 1946. They had five children . On October 23, 1953 Martha married William Fit- zimmons. He passed away November 6, 1977. Mar tha lives in Crookston .
Maria, born July 27, 1911, married Lorenz Mamer November 21 , 1933. The y had five children . Lorenz died May 20 , 1976. Marie lives in Lake Lenore.
Herman , the first son , was born January 10, 1913 . He married Beatrice Schreiner at St. James on June 27, 1944. The y, too , had 5 children and are living in Lake Lenore.
Katie wa s born October 27, 1914. She married Joe E . Skalicky on October 11, 1938. The y had 9 children. They live in Lake Lenore.
Martin was born January 12, 1917. He married Anni Bauml of Marysburg October 10, 1944. They lived on the home place where the y raised their 8 children. At the time of writing, Martin is very ill in St. Elizabeth's Hospital , Humboldt. . From his homestead five miles due west of Annaheim, Frank moved quite often. Frank and Barbera lived in Humboldt for a while, then on his brother-in- law's - Nick Braun - homestead north-west of Annaheim, then one mile farther north-west and again one mile west and ended up on the Tilp homestead 3 miles east of Lake Lenore. Mr. Tilp had died and it was part of the land agreement that they would look after Mrs . Tilp until she died. This became the Pro- dahl home place, and Martin's farm .
Helen was born October 17, 1918 and married Raymond Vanderlinde on August 12, 1940. They had four children.
Genevieve was born April 25, 1921, married Urban Brinkman on June 9, 1942. The y had six children and live in Saskatoon.
On September 12, 1923 twin girls Veronica and Annie were born. Annie died in infancy. "Fronie" married Wilbert Brinkman on October 1, 1946. They had three children and live on the farm four miles east of Lake Lenore.
Annie (the second) was born October 30, 1925. She married Clarence Ehalt on October 8, 1945. They had four children . Clarence died in an accident on February 16, 1967.
Anne married Arnold Dauk on April 15, 1968. They live in Annaheim .
Frank and Barbara, "Bep" as she was known, moved to Lake Lenore to retire in 11 1944. The house they mov-ed into was small and quite old . With Fronie's help the old house was torn down and a new, small house. Frank was a good carpenter and a very strong man.
Now he could spend all his time doing his favorite pastimes, fishing and telling stories and sometimes both at the same time. The happy little home didn't remain that way long. On January 2, 1948 Barbara died. She had been born in Rhineland , Germany on March 22, 1882. She emigrated with her parents and family to Minnesota in May 1893, and came to Canada, Annaheim, with her mother and sister Mary in 1909. (See Katharina Braun story.) . Frank married again . He married Mrs . Anme Mueller from the Verndale district. He died September 7, 1956. Annie is presently a guest at Bethany Village in Middle Lake. Some of Frank's brothers like Johnny, Tony, and Gregor were well known in the Annaheim district
