Growing up my parents used to take me and my brother on many family trips. But, my favorite trip was going to Europe with my senior class. This was my first time out of the country without my family and I had the best time! We went to so many amazing countries like Poland, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. There were so many sights to take in and new foods to try. With this being my first trip without my family, I began to collect postcards and writing down my adventures in these new countries. I think my favorite country to explore was Hungary. We went to a few small cities as well as Budapest. While in Budapest, I went to so many sites; Heroes' Square, the Hungarian Parliament building, Buda Castle, and cruised down the Danube on a riverboat. The Buda Castle sits up on cliffs located on the Buda side of the city. This had the best view! This was one of the many castles that we visited on the trip but was by far the best one. With each country came new foods to try. I've never been one to say no to food, so let's just say I was in my happy place trying these new foods. In Poland, we were introduced to pierogis. These were definitely my favorite! I think I might have been the only one that actually liked this dinner. Another favorite was the Kürtőskalács or "chimney cake" which is just sweet bread that is spun into a cone shape and rolled in sugar. I found these when we were in Hungary roaming the streets and it was the perfect sweet treat! At the end of the trip I was so sad to leave but I couldn't wait to share my adventures with my family.
As we are in Covid right now I am begging to miss the days I was able to travel! For my next big trip I want to explore Ireland, Spain, and Italy.
