Welcome to your Personal Kitchen Management System.
You’ve made a GREAT CHOICE!
In addition to being an AI Powered Recipe Generator to create amazing recipes that are tailored to your dietary preferences and needs, ChefsKitchen is a complete Personal Kitchen Management System! Take some time to read the instructions and learn what all you can do with your new kitchen assistant!
Using this Kitchen Assistant is easy once you get familiar with the processes, so please take your time and read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding and feel free to come back as often as you need as you learn how to use Chef’s Kitchen.
These instructions are broken into individual sections covering each function page, starting with entering your settings.
Settings;
This page is primarily intended to help you catalogue your food allergies. If you have any food allergies you should read through this comprehensive list of common allergies and check the boxes next to any that you suffer from. Doing this will help the app tell the Generative Text AI what ingredients to avoid when creating new recipes for you and your family, so take care and be thorough!
Also on the Settings page you will find the instructions button to enable you review the instructions as often as questions arise as well as the Go PRO! Button to allow you to upgrade to a paid subscription, unlocking extra features and removing advertisements.
Timers (PRO Feature);
This is where you can add timers for various steps in the cooking process. The time will play a single notification sound at completion so you don’t have to repeatedly stop an expired timer in the middle of the cooking process. Use the Back button to return directly to the recipe you were working on when you activated the timer, or the home button to return to the apps main page.
Community (PRO Feature);
This is where you will find a connection with our cooking community, create and reply to posts, find news about contests that will be added each month as well as submitting your entries and voting on the winners, get tips from other cooks from our cooking community (other users) as well as lessons both from my experience as a Chef as well as from other Chefs and professional Culinary Managers that I will post to help you build your skills as a Home Chef.
Your Medals;
Each time you complete 5 recipes at each of 11 different skill levels you will be awarded a badge or trophy that will be displayed here. Please be sure to hit the Share My Awards button and share your trophy shelf with the Chef’s Kitchen community or your friends and family.
Saved Recipes;
Any time you generate a recipe you will have the ability to save it to your personal database of recipes stored right here in the app. Just click the Save Recipe button in the Let’s Cook! page and it will automatically create a new entry here. From this page you can view, edit or delete any recipe you have saved. You can also click the Add Recipe button on this page if you have a personal recipe that you want to store in the app for a safe all-in-one “recipe box” so no more keeping up with different recipe books around your kitchen.
Inventory;
This is the heart of the app, in this page you will build your personal inventory list. There are 4 methods of adding items to your inventory. First use the Shopping List function (I will explain that in the next paragraph) or click the Add button to access the other three methods; 1) Add Manually, after clicking this button you will enter the item name, quantity and UOM of each item by manually typing the information into the dialogue. 2) Scan Barcode, clicking this button will activate your device camera and allow you to scan the UPC barcode of the product you are adding. The app then searches a national UPC database for the product information, I have found this method to be 99% effective when scanning non-store barcodes (the ones that are printed on the factory label by the company that makes the food item not stickers placed by your grocery store) 3) Identify with Camera, this is a PRO feature and uses an online AI image search to find the item and returns a list of possible matches, I have found this method to be effective when adding fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, etc but not prepackaged items.
Shopping List;
This feature allows you to build your shopping list manually or automatically based on the needs of the recipe you are creating. If your recipe calls for ingredients that are not in your personal inventory it will automatically add them to your shopping list when you click the Save Recipe button on the Let’s Cook! page. You will have to manually adjust the Quantity (Qty) and Unit of Measure (UOM) as you select the items in the grocery store as it will auto-populate only the amounts that are called for by the recipe. BE SURE to edit each item on your shopping list to update the Qty and UOM’s in order to allow the app to properly track your inventory usage. When you are shopping checking the box on each line of the shopping list will remove the item from the list and add it to your personal inventory, so make sure you edit the Qty and UOM before you check it off the list.
Let’s Cook!;
This is the app’s core function so we will cover each entry box and slider individually;
Specific Recipe (Optional – PRO), this is a PRO feature. If you have a specific dish you want to cook type the name of the dish into this box to generate a recipe specific to your desired meal. i.e. Tuscan Chicken and Parm Roasted Asparagus will generate a recipe for that specific dish. I added this feature because I was making a dish I haven’t made in several years and wanted to make sure I didn’t forget any of the ingredients and it turned out to be a GREAT feature.
Meal Category, use this box to tell the app what meal you are making. The options are Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Appetizer, Desert, Beverage or Any.
Dietary Options, Remember those food allergies you entered on the Settings page? This is where the magic happens. If you select Allergen Friendly the app will read your allergies list and exclude those ingredients from the recipe. The other options on this list are because I wanted to create an app that was as inclusive as possible so you can choose from the following options; Crohns Friendly, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, Vegan, Keto, Paleo.
Meal Genre, use this option to tell the app if you are in the mood for Beef/Steak, Burgers/Sandwiches, Chicken/Poultry, etc for a little more control over the recipe you will be preparing.
How many servings (slider), this option tells the app how many servings you need to prepare so it can adjust the recipe accordingly.
Difficulty Level, use this slider to determine how difficult /how many steps / how long your recipe will take to prepare. It is set to range from the easiest possible (Never cooked before) to recipes that take literal DAYS to prepare (Michelin Star Chef) for those of you who really want to impress the guest!
Once you have entered all of your preferences click the Generate Recipe button. **It takes up to 60 seconds for the app to generate a recipe so be patient!!! ** Once the recipe is generated your will be brought to a the View Recipe page where you will spend your time working on the recipe, however at the bottom of that page you will have a link to your timers (Pro) the button to save the recipe to your favorites file (a must if you want the app to automatically add ingredients to your shopping list), the I Cooked It! Button which when clicked tells the app to remove the ingredients used from your personal inventory and the Share button which gives you the standard Android share options as well as the ability to copy the recipe to your device clipboard so you can paste it into the Community page to take part in our monthly contests as well as sharing tips and thoughts you gleaned from the process.
