My research tackles a number of areas related to gender and the labour market. It is well established that there is a gender wage gap and I am interested at exploring some of the factors that may help explain this gap, such as the role of firms and the role of preferences, expectations and beliefs. I am particularly interested in the gender wage gap within the graduate labour market and this links to some of my work on creative graduates and the project “Do Attitudes, Job Preferences and Search Behaviour Explain Differences in Labour Market Outcomes Among University Graduates?” (with Simonetta Longhi) discussed under the Graduate Labour Market section.

Other areas of interest include the economics of women’s health and the labour market. In particular I am working on two areas relating to women’s health:

Labour market outcomes and the menopause (with Tatiana Rowson)

Labour market decisions/outcomes and Breastfeeding decisions (with Marina Della Giusta and Sam Rawlings)
