Analyzing Current Trends in Moral and Ethical Beliefs to Predict Future Artificial Intelligence Development
With the ever-increasing presence of artificial intelligence in the public’s day to day lives, the issues surrounding this rapidly growing technology are also growing. Specifically, the moral and ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence are at the forefront of society’s concerns with AI (artificial intelligence). While taking into account a survey of an even plethora of ages, economic status, countries, and genders for their ideas on artificial intelligence morality and ethics would seem useful immediately, if one is concerned for the future of AI one must survey and study the future developers of this AI, or rather, the current younger generations. Having grown up surrounded by smart technology and the beginnings of artificial intelligence, the relationship to AI by younger people will likely be different from their older counterparts. This paper will identify the methodology of surveying high school age students on their familiarity and interest with artificial intelligence and present them with a diverse group of morally and ethically concerned questions on AI, the use of AI in the workforce, the problems with black box communication between AI machines, and AI response in life-or-death situations.
