Solar flares imaging from hard X-ray data (STIX/Solar Orbiter)

STIX is an instrument on board the Solar Orbiter satellite launched by the European Space Agency in February 2020 and is conceived for the study of solar flares, intense phenomena that arise on the Sun surface. During these events, a sudden release of energy stored in the magnetic field of the Sun accelerates electrons and causes the emission of x-ray photons by bremsstrahlung. The goal of the inverse imaging problem from STIX data is to retrieve the image of the x-ray emission from the measurements of the photons incident on the telescope.

I have contributed to producing some of the first imaging results from STIX: here, here and here.
