Since 2022 I am a Researcher at the Life Science Computational laboratory (LISCOMP) at IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino, and at the Methods for Image and Data Analysis group (MIDA) at Università di Genova.
Before that, I was a Université Cote d'Azure Excellence Program research fellow working at the Epione group, INRIA Sophia Antipolis, a post-doc at the Centre for Medical Image Computing group (CMIC), UCL, London, and a PhD student in applied mathematics at Università di Genova.
My research work is at the boundary between mathematics and application - for biological modelling in particular. I have been developing models, methods and algorithms for neurodegenerative diseases and oncological applications.

January 2024: our review paper on Disease Progression Modelling is out now - check it out in the last issue of Nature Reviews Neuroscience!
January 2024: I'll be presenting the results obtained within the INdAM-GNCS project "Computational methods for modelling neurodegenerative diseases" at the 2024 GNCS workshop, held in Rimini in February
November 2023: I'll be presenting 3 posters and giving 1 talk at the 2023 RIN Annual Meeting
August 2023: Solar Physics just accepted our paper "The STIX imaging concept"
July 2023: LISCOMP Lab has been funded within the 2023 5x1000 call at IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico san Martino with 6 projects!
April 2023: Our minisymposium on "Modern techniques for biomedical data analysis" has been accepted at SIMAI2023
March 2023: I'll be presenting a poster at AAIC this year about Bayesian learning for modelling tau propagation in Alzheimer's disease
Feb 2023: IndAM-GNCS has funded my project on Computational Methods for Modelling Neurodegenerative Diseases for the year 2023!
Jan 2023: our Disease Progression Modelling website is up and running!
Jan 2023: a new position for BSc/MSc grad students available at LISCOMP (IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino) for developing image processing tools in the context of radiomics
Dec 2022: we recently identified two different subtypes in neurological long-COVID pathology - check out our JNS paper
Sep 2022: our work on approximation of discontinuous inverse operators with neural networks is finally out in inverse problems
Aug 2022: two new positions for BSc/MSc grad students available at LISCOMP (IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino) for developing computational techniques for longitudinal biomedical data
Jul 2022: I am plenary speaker at POND2022, London
Jul 2022: Solar Physics just printed our paper "First Hard X-Ray Imaging Results by Solar Orbiter STIX"
Jul 2022: PhD student Davide Parodi has won third prize at IEEE-EMBS International summer school on biomedical imaging with our poster on "PET kinetic parameters reconstruction using Gaussian Processes and gradient matching constraints"!
