— Sara Chebbo
Dr. Sara Chebbo
I am a biogeochemist and environmental scientist with an interdisciplinary background in Earth Science, functional ecology, and Earth system modelling.
I currently hold a full-time teaching and research position at the École normale supérieure (ENS), Paris Ulm, Panthéon Campus.
My academic journey has been driven by a curiosity to understand how natural systems function, interact, and respond to environmental change.
I earned my PhD in Geosciences from Université Paris-Saclay, where I explored terrestrial ecosystem functioning and carbon dynamics, particularly in French permanent grasslands, using the ORCHIDEE land surface model and future climate scenarios.
Prior to my PhD, I completed a Master's degree in Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution (BEE), specializing in Environment and Law, at the University of Rennes. This dual-disciplinary training provided me with a broader perspective on environmental challenges, combining ecological sciences with legal approaches.
Beyond my previous research, I am interested in exploring the complex connections between ecological processes, biogeochemical cycles, global environmental change, and human well-being.
I am particularly drawn to interdisciplinary approaches that connect different scientific fields to better understand environmental challenges.
2022-present | Peer-review Activities
Peer reviewer for international peer-reviewed scientific journals, contributing to the evaluation of research manuscripts in environmental sciences, ecology, and related disciplines.
2024–2025 | Member — Reflection on Engagement for Climate Group
Contributed to organizing monthly interdisciplinary seminars exploring the societal role of scientists, featuring invited speakers and open discussions (February 2024–May 2025). The initiative received financial support from CLand and LSCE.
