ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice explores spatial perception.

I make large-scale fabric installations that create an immersive environment and force the audience to physically engage with the work, pushing the audience to be in the moment by mirroring the emotional and psychological landscapes that shape our understanding of safety.

My work aims to displace the viewer from outside stimuli, creating a disconnection from everyday emotional and physical experiences. It refers to the phenomenological experience of being in the world — how we perceive and interact with our surroundings, and how these perceptions shift depending on our own sense of self and our relationships with others.

The use of textiles in my work is a metaphor for both protection and fragility, reflecting how the sense of safety, similar to clothing, can both shield and constrain.

As viewers move through the works, their interaction becomes integral to the experience, shaped by their sense of safety or discomfort, ultimately aiming to convey the idea that our perception of safety is deeply personal, yet universally shared.
