I hold a degree in Environmental Biology and a master's in Conservation Biology, both from the University of Lisbon. In April 2023 I completed my PhD in BIODIV (Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution) with Distinction and Honors. My doctoral research focused on the evolutionary consequences of mate-choice copying in spatially structured populations, using individual-based models. Mate-choice copying is a mechanism of non-independent mate-choice, where individuals adjust their mate preferences based on the choices of conspecifics. My PhD was supervised by Prof. Margarida Matos, Prof. Susana A. M. Varela, and Prof. Ingo Schlupp.
Currently I am working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Science and Environment of the University of Saint Joseph in Macao, as a Grant holder of the Funding Scheme of Macao for Science and Technology R&D Talent from the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT). My current project focuses on the role of the Gut microbiota in the development of the social behaviour in fish and I am under the guidance of Prof. David Gonçalves. Hopefully I can share some results of the amazing project with you all soon!
