2019-2020 School year is in session

In the blink of an eye, its another year! We are glad to see familiar faces and we welcome our new students to our SanYu family. This year, we have planned new, fun, elective classes and our students are so excited to begin another year of learning! In addition, we will be upgrading our security measures to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

Elective classes are... Magical!

Our students are having so much fun in magic class. They can't wait to bring home their bag of magic secrets to present to their family and friends!

2019 Thanksgiving Program

We invited a medical mission worker to share her experience at Golden Triangle in Asia yesterday. It was part of our special Thanksgiving program for children. There was a great turnout and all the children had a meaningful morning of learning anf crafts. Looking forward to many more of these educational programs for our SanYu students!

First day of Vacation Bible Camp!

Our theme is on Character Building. It's never too late to educate children about character and choosing to sow the right seeds. Students also had a nutritious lunch! Looking forward to Day 2!

Students learning memory verse in both Chinese and English.

Day 4 of Summer Camp!

Time flies! The students had a wonderful time learning ukulele and did some art! The art theme was Butterflies!

Students also had opportunities to play together in a mixed age group.  They created a new game themselves and negotiated the rules. They worked together to iron out disagreements and issues and played cooperatively. All these are perfect display of cognitive development! Play at its best!

Everyone ended the day with a healthy fruit salad!

Summer Camp has begun!

Students have started their musical journey learning to play the ukulele this week. They also took part in acting out classical poems and songs. In the afternoon, they got to try out different drawing techniques. We are happy to be able to offer students a very enriching summer camp! Stay tuned for our Vacation Bible Camp taking place next week!

We have a photo site!

Due to overwhelming request, we have created a photo site at sanyulc2018.shutterfly.com for the photos related to the 2018-2019 school year. Currently, only the photos from the 06/11 graduation are available. We will retroactively add photos and announce the availability here.

Happy Mothers Day!

Our SanYu kindergarteners performed a medley of songs at a church on Saturday to wish mothers a Happy Mother's Day!

Heartwarming moments

We would like to commend our 3rd Grader, Alex, for being an outstanding brother today! When he got to know that his sister was starting to feel under the weather, he never left her side. He hugged her, and comforted her. He kept feeding his sister water hoping to help bring the temperature down. His encouragement, his concerned and caring look greatly reassured his sister. Well done, Alex!

We believe that this is not the only exhibition of beautiful sibling love. Stay tuned for more heartwarming moments happening at SanYu!

Congratulations Wenda Chen!

The IMEC is an annual competitive math event for K to 6th grade students. The questions are carefully designed for each grade level to generate interest in math for students and to help parents acknowledge the progress of their children's math development.

We are thrilled to announce that Wenda Chen from our Grade 1 class placed Second in the IMEC 2019 Math Contest!

Congratulations!

Important Skills - Visual Scanning

Visual scanning is one of many important skills that usually goes unrecognized. Visual scanning is the active scanning for information that is required in activities ranging from efficient problem solving to reading to avoiding obstacles navigating the real environment.

Visual scanning requires the child to pay conscious attention to existing information or clues. Simple activities that trains visual scanning include doing puzzles, drawing, cutting shapes, tracing, and so much more.

At SanYu, our programs and activities are not simply teaching Chinese and Math. We work on developing a wholesome child. We help establish a strong foundation and layer on many skills vital for successful learning in future.

Spring Break Camp Update

Spring break has come and gone in a flash. The kids had a cake decorating class and a sports day too. On top of having fun, our students are also responsible for cleaning up after themselves. They had a fruitful Spring Break Camp at SanYu!

Spring Break Camp

This week is Spring Break for BCS, CUSD, LASD and MVLA. For the students attending SanYu Spring Break camp, they got to do craft with chocolate on Monday.

Art Class Creations

One of the elective classes SanYu conducts is Art. Student creates masterpieces of their own under superior guidance. The sense of achievement our students get each time they complete an artwork can be seen on their faces, and it only gets better! Art allows students to express and appreciate. Art enhances listening skills and concentration. Art provides opportunity for conceptualizing and organizing. Art is important and valuable. Their masterpieces below tell it all.

Easter Fun for Grade K & 1 Report

We had an Easter program for the Grade K & 1 Students on 04/13/2019 at the South Bay Chinese SDA Church in Mountain View, CA. The turnout was bigger than anticipated, but we had a good time. Thanks to the parents for taking the time out of their busy schedule to bring the kids out. A total of 20 Students and their siblings joined us for a morning of crafts and egg hunt. For the kids that were unable to join us this time, fret not. There will be more fun events to come!

We have a Photo Rack!

We are very proud of your child's efforts and achievements at SanYu.  Hence we recently added a display of photos of our students in action at SanYu. Our students enjoyed seeing photos of themselves and had the opportunity to see what activities took place in other classes too! We will be updating and adding photos of them and their hard work occasionally. SanYu believes in giving your children their due recognition and encouragement for every effort that they put in. Parents are highly encouraged to drop by the SanYu office and check it out. May our students continue to soar in their own special ways!
