"नेपालमा ८ अर्ब ८० करोड घनमिटर भूमिगत जलको भण्डार छ, हाल यसको २२ प्रतिशत अर्थात् १ अर्ब ९० करोड घनमिटर भूमिगत जल सिँचाइ, घरेलु तथा औद्योगिक प्रयोजनमा प्रयोग भइरहेको छ। आकासे पानीमा निर्भर तराईका ६ लाख हेक्टर जमिनमा सिँचाइ पु¥याउने हो भने हिउँदमा गहुँ र गर्मी याममा धान लगाउन करिब १ अर्ब ४० करोड घनमिटर भूमिगत जल आवश्यक हुनेछ। हाल प्रयोगमा रहेको भूमिगत जलको परिमाण तथा उपयोगमा आउने यो थप जल मिसाउने हो भने पनि नेपालमा आफ्नो भण्डारको करिब ६० प्रतिशत अर्थात् ५ अर्ब घनमिटर भूमिगत जल थाँती रहनेछ।"
"६ लाख हेक्टर जमिनमा भूमिगत जलको प्रयोगमार्फत सिँचाइ गर्न सके चैते बालीमा थप २३ लाख मेट्रिक टन धान तथा थप १७ लाख मेट्रिक टन गहुँ उत्पादन गर्न सकिनेछ। आर्थिक हिसाबमा हेर्ने हो भने यसले २ दशमलव २ अर्ब अमेरिकी डलरबराबर कूल उत्पादन अर्थात् उत्पादनको खर्च घटाएर १ दशमलव १ अर्ब खुद उत्पादन थप्नेछ।"
