God has protected us over these first 6 weeks and 6,000 miles of driving!
We had great fellowship and planning meetings at BMM's annual Leadership retreat. It was just too short, as it was only a day and a half long! The devotional times with Pastor Stephen Olsen were very special too!
God has started to supply some of the much needed funding for our MK retreat.
Our hearts have been FILLED with some short but SUPER special IN PERSON times with our kids and grands.

for Karen S, a retired Brazil missionary who still lives there and serves with her husband. She is 84. Doctors haven't figured out why she had convulsions a few days ago.
for Pastor Ulisses as he meets with Dave's 3 groups of pastors to not completely lose continuity. He has also accepted Dave's challenge to start a 4th with some young, future layleaders and pastors.

Being part of training the 12 new BMM missionary candidates was SUCH a great and encouraging time!
The Lord helped Dave through His most challenging preaching opportunity ever, as he spoke to over 150 BMM missionaries that were present at the annual conference.
Even though we're not there, Geovana and Felipe went back to our church!
PLEASE PRAY
for safety and energy as we drive extensively during our 14 weeks here to visit so many supporters, churches, friends, pastors, AND FAMILY!!
for MEN, young AND older, to "grow up" spiritually and embrace their role. BMM welcomed 8 single gals as new missionaries, most to countries that aren't even open to the Gospel. Their courage is only matched by the heartbreaking cowardice and selfishness that seem to be the "norm" among the guys these days!

A BIT ABOUT US
We joined BMM in 1984, after God made His will and call for our lives unmistakably clear. After finishing college and raising support, we moved to the 3rd largest city in the world - referred to as a "mini-continent" - because at 26 million, it's population is larger than 3/4 of the world's countries! It's the mega-metropolis of São Paulo, Brazil; extremely urban with the many unique challenges and danger this type of city presents to ministry.
We've been privileged to revitalize and expand a youth camp, plant 4 churches and help revitalize one more, as well as host over 1800 "short-termers" on mission trips, sent from dozens of US churches.
We have entered a new phase of ministry where we are shepherding Brazilian pastors and their wives both formally and informally, as well as training new pastors and lay leaders. We also have the honor of shepherding our BMM Brazil colleagues, training new missionaries as they start pre-field ministry, and participating in BMM's Global ministry through vision casting, strategic planning, and even ongoing professional development for our missionaries around the world!
Our motto for our current mnistries is "Find yourself a Timothy, place him on your shoulders. and help him see further than you ever could."
