PRAISES
We were in a 3-day training retreat that focused on "member care" for missionaries and it was SO rich! We learned so much and met some amazing people with a burden to see missionaries spiritually healthy from their first steps to post-retirement!
IBCA (our Castro Alves church) celebrated their 21st anniversary and part of it was a baptism! (pics below)
17-year-old Davi went in front of the whole church and shared a poem he wrote about IBCA. (posted below)
God continues to watch over us as we've now driven over 8500 miles and taken 2 long flights over the last 9 weeks!
PLEASE PRAY
for the FIRST EVER BMM Brazil MK retreat we're hosting from Oct 27-Nov 2. These 12 MKs only see each other once a year and we want to make it an EPIC and life-changing time for them! If you'd like to help fund this, you can give right through this site! BMM's Member Care specialists are flying down to be part of it as well and we know God is gong to do great things!
for our Caitlyn as she's in her last month of pregnancy (due Oct 9!!).
for the 12 pastors Dave's mentoring to work together to jointly plant a church. They've embraced the challenge and we're excited to see how the Lord works in this first ever multi-church cooperative project! Our missionary colleague launched the idea after observing how unified these pastors have become. He is getting funding to help them and so are we! We will also be advising and orienting them as needed.
Valentina's baptism
Igor's baptism
Extra chairs had to be set up for the celebration!
Different families shared how much IBCA means to them.

PRAISES
Our meetings (whether at churches or with individuals/couples/families) have all been amazing! Everyone is SO encouraging and that reenergizes us! It also reminds us of just how essential and equally important every aspect of God's work is; from the givers, to the "pray-ers" to the "goers"!
Through over 6500 miles and 2 flights in 7 weeks, God has protected us!
Castro Alves church was PACKED for Brazilian Father's Day on Aug 11.
We were able to be at our grandson Charlie's 2nd birthday celebration - a special time, since he was a premie (in the 2nd percentile) and now he's in the 73rd percentile!!
PLEASE PRAY
for our Caitlyn as she's in her last 8 weeks of pregnancy (due Oct 9!!).
for the special conference at Castro Alves Aug 30-31 as they celebrate 21 years.
for our son-in-law Nathan as he continues seeking the job God has for him.
for funding for 4 brand new church plants our missionaries in Brazil are working on. 2 are looking for land and 2 are already in the building phase!
For Those Who Want More . . .
We joined BMM in 1984, after God made His will and call for our lives unmistakably clear. After finishing college and raising support we moved to the 3rd largest city in the world, referred to as a "mini-continent" because at 26 million, it's population is larger than 3/4 of the worl'd's countries! It's the mega-metropolis of São Paulo, Brazil; extremely urban with the unique challenges this type of city presents to ministry.
We've been privileged to revitalize and expand a youth camp, plant 4 churches and help revitalize one more, as well as host over 1600 "short-termers" on mission trips, sent from dozens of US churches.
We have entered a new phase of ministry where we are shepherding Brazilian pastors and their wives both formally and informally, as well as training new pastors and lay leaders. We also have the honor of shepherding our BMM Brazil colleagues, training new missionaries as they start pre-field ministry, and participating in BMM's Global ministry through vision casting, strategic planning, and even ongoing professional development for our missionaries around the world!
