The above photo is very important in my scientific career. I used artificial intelligence to improve my photo for the first time at 16.25 PM on 26th December, 2025 and it was done at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. ISI-Kolkata is known as India's Mecca for image processing, pattern recognition, etc. since 1970's. Soft computing, an area of my research interests, has enormous uses in Image Processing, Pattern recognition, etc.

I am Santanu Acharjee. I am working as an assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics, Gauhati University, Guwahati-781014, Assam, India. In 2016, I completed my Ph.D. in the common domain of topology, soft computing and mathematical economics. Later, I was considered by Late Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh, the founder of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, to pursue Post Doctoral research works under him at University of California, Berkeley, but I could not avail that life-time opportunity due to sudden demise of Prof. Zadeh in 2017. However, you can find the screen-shot of the first e-mail reply of Late Prof. Zadeh to me below. But, in 2019, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with Late Prof. Dimitri A. Molodtsov, the founder of soft set theory. In 2020, I was also fortunate enough to collaborate with Prof. Robin I.M. Dunbar of the University of Oxford, on a research topic of social networks, using theoretical chemistry, that now bears his name "Dunbar graph".
At present, I am on study leave and availing the position of Honorary Visiting Scientist at Center for Soft Computing Research, Indian Statistical Institute - Kolkata.
