Santhosh Kumar B V is a Research Scholar in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru. His academic interests include Transportation Planning, Urban Transportation Systems, Public Transportation, and Traffic Engineering, with a strong focus on developing data-driven and sustainable mobility solutions for rapidly growing cities.
Before joining IISc, he completed his Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, where he worked extensively with real-time bus transportation data. His research involved predicting bus arrival times using advanced analytics, strengthening his interest in public transport operations and the application of big data in addressing mobility challenges.
In his PhD, Santhosh is focused on the performance evaluation of public transportation systems and the optimization of multimodal transit schedules using large-scale datasets such as GTFS, ETM, and GPS feeds. His work aims to improve service reliability, enhance passenger experience, and support data-driven decision-making for transit agencies.
With experience in advanced data analytics, machine learning, and optimization techniques, he applies ML and optimization methods to real-world transportation problems. He is committed to contributing toward intelligent, efficient, and sustainable public transport systems that positively impact millions of commuters.
