Location and Meaning
Space in geography is an objective location of an area. Meaning of this location- it is the location of Christopher's Landfall in the New World. It is an important cultural location in the Bahamas and North America. It brings people to the Island of San Salvador and shapes how people on the island view themselves and their history.
San Salvador's relative location in the Atlantic is about 200 miles southeast of Nassau, and about an hour flight from Florida.

The historically accepted site of Columbus' landfall is the settlement of Long Bay. It is located in the southwest on the island of San Salvador and sits opposite the Landfall Park that commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the island. The park is home to the Columbus Monument, The Olympic Monument, The Quincentennial Monument, and the Neo Santa Maria Monument.
Absolute location 24.0776 N, 74.4760 W It is one of 700 islands that make up the Bahamas Archipelago. The Bahamas covers a total of 5,380 square miles.
