WHY SAMSKRIT?
संस्कृति (culture) and धर्म (righteousness) are the soul of the people of Bharatiya origin. Samskrit language is the vehicle of our Vedic culture. Familiarity with Samskrit helps understand culture and righteousness. Samskrit is known as देवभाषा (devine language) packing wisdom that has been tested and enhanced for thousands of years. Samskrit language has pronounciations that stimulate Nadis and Chakras, enhancing overall health. Samskrit is one of the most scientific languages and is recognized as containing the earliest literature in the world.
WHY NOW?
There is no better time to support and promote Bharatiya culture than now. There are three wrong notions about Samskrit languge (1) it is difficult, (2) it is dead, and (3) it is only for priests. We want the new generation to help us prove these three notions incorrect.
WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN?
In addition to overal familiarity with Samskrit your children will learn the following items while being engaged in fun activities and games:
Slokas (verses)
Kathas (stories)
Sambhashanam (conversation)
Subhashitam (great messages in short verses)
A UNIQUE & NATURAL TEACHING METHOD
Samskrit Bharati follows a very unique and natrual methodolgoy to teach Samskrit. Think about how you learned your first language. Did you start learning the grammar? Did you try to read books? No! You heard your family members and then you tried to speak it yourself. Probably, years later, you learned the alphabets after which you were able to read and after that, write. The most natural way to learning a language is:
श्रवणम् LISTEN -> वदनम् SPEAK -> पठनम् READ -> लेखनम् WRITE
During the summar camp, teachers will follow similar methodolody coupled with fun activities and games.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Children grades 2 - 12. Select the applicable Samskrit familiarity duirng registration.
BEGINNER: No prior knowledge of Samskrit language is required.
ADVANCED: Has attended two years of Samskrit Bharati Balvargah curriculum at Bharatiya Hindu Temple (Gurukul), Sai Baba Temple (Sai Bala Vihar) or Chinmaya Mission and can identify and write Devnaagri alphabets.
WHAT IF MY CHILD IS FAMILIAR WITH SAMSKRIT?
We will have age appropriate and Samskrit familiarity appropriate topics and material and activities. Curriculum for children familiar with Samsrkit is focused on Sambhashanam (conversation).
