Dr. Sankalp Gour
I’m Dr. Sankalp Gour, a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. My research focuses on developing theoretical models to understand the behavior of polymer melts and soft materials, as part of a DRDO-sponsored project on the PCS–SiC conversion process.
I earned my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, under the supervision of Dr. Deepak Kumar. My doctoral work, “Reinforcement and Failure Modeling of Elastomers: A Continuum Mechanics Approach,” explored the deformation, actuation, and failure of soft and electroactive elastomers. My broader interests include constitutive modeling, hyperelasticity, and the mechanics of soft active materials, with an emphasis on bridging theory and experiment.
