Associate Dean, Quality Assurance
Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department,
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune, India.
I am Dr. Sanjay Matekar, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, India. I completed my B.E. in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 and my M.E. in Mechanical Engineering - Design in 2011 from the then University of Pune. I was awarded a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in December 2021 from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
With over two decades of academic experience since joining the institute in 2002, I have been actively involved in teaching, research, and mentoring. My teaching portfolio spans core subjects such as 'Robotics', 'CAD/CAM & Automation', 'Numerical Methods', and 'Theory of Machines' at the undergraduate level, and advanced design engineering courses including 'Analysis and Synthesis of Mechanisms', 'Optimization Techniques', 'Robotics', and 'Computer-Aided Design' at the postgraduate level.
I have guided numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects and contributed to research through publications in international journals, conference presentations, and authored books and book chapters. My research interests focus on 'Mechanism Synthesis', 'Robotics', 'Optimization', and 'Robust Design'.
Beyond academics, I serve as the Faculty Coordinator of Team Automatons, our institute’s robotics club. Under my guidance, students participate in the national robotics competition, 'DD-ROBOCON', organised by Delhi Doordarshan, and the 'International Rover Challenge', organised by the Space Robotics Society, fostering innovation, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills.
I am passionate about blending theoretical foundations with hands-on engineering practice to prepare students for research, industry, and technological leadership.
