Current Trends in ICT
Convergence- the synergy of technological advancements work on a similar goal or task
social media- is a website, application, or online channel that enables web users to create, co-create, discuss modify and exchange user generated content.
Mobile technologies- the popularity of smartphones and tablets has taken a major rise over the years.
Assistive media- is a non-profit service designed to help people who have visual and reading impairments. A database of audio recordings is used to read to the user.
cloud computing- distributed computing on internet or delivery of computing service over the internet. instead of running an e-mail program on your computer you log in to web e-mail account remotely.
Generation of Computers
Time Period: 1941 to 1959
Size: Very Large System
Technology: Vacuum Tubes
Processing: Very slow
Time Period: 1959 to 1963
Technology: Transistors
Size: Smaller
Processing: Faster
Time Period: 1963 to 1975
Technology: ICs ( integrated Circuits) incorporated many transistors & electronic circuits on a single chip
Size: Small as compared to 2nd generation computers
Processing: Faster than 2nd generation computers
Time Period: 1971-1980
computers of fourth generation used very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuits
VLSI circuits having about 5000 transistors and other circuit elements with their associated circuits on a single chip made it possible to have microcomputers of fourth generation.
AI- artificial intelligence software and parallel processing hardware
VLSI technology become ULSI ( ultra large scale integration technology)
Computer
an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to introductions given to it in a variable program.
Multimedia and ICT
Videos- Through video hosting sites, you can take a video and show it to the entire world.
Sound, Music or Audio- if videos are too much for you, you can always record sounds. you can share your sound bites to the entire world.
Online Games- gen developers now create what is called "browser-based games." you do not need to install these games to your computer as they run in most updated web browsers.
Online Test- online survey forms and test that automatically display the results when finished.
Podcasts- an episodic series of audio or text files streamed online.
Vodcasts- an episodic series of video streamed online.
