**Privacy Policy - Silence Manager**
*Last updated: August 2, 2025*
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the Silence Manager application ("we," "our," "the app") handles your information and device permissions.
### 1. Data Collection and Use
The Silence Manager has a simple and straightforward privacy policy:
- **No Collection of Personal Data**: The app does not collect, store, share, or transmit any type of personal or sensitive user information.
- **Local Storage**: All data you create, such as alarm suppression periods, is stored exclusively on your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you use the "Export" function to create a personal backup.
- **No Account Access**: The app does not require a login, nor does it access your accounts, contacts, or any other personal information.
### 2. Required Permissions and Why We Use Them
To perform its core function—reliably silencing alarms at scheduled times—the Silence Manager requires specific Android system permissions. Each permission is requested only for a functional and essential purpose:
- **Access to "Do Not Disturb" (ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY)**: This is the primary permission. It allows the app to enable and disable the "Do Not Disturb" mode on your device. This is the core mechanism we use to ensure alarms are silenced during the periods you’ve scheduled.
- **Schedule Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM)**: To ensure a silence period starts and ends precisely at the second you’ve set, the app requires this permission. Without it, the Android system might delay the start of silencing to save battery, which could cause an alarm to sound before being silenced.
- **Run at Startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED)**: If you restart your device, scheduled silence periods would be lost. This permission allows the app to automatically reactivate all future scheduled periods after a reboot, ensuring they are not forgotten.
- **Foreground Service and Notifications (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / POST_NOTIFICATIONS)**: To ensure alarm silencing is maintained continuously and reliably during an active period, the app runs a "foreground service." Android rules require that any such service displays a persistent, discreet notification so you, the user, are always aware that the app is actively working to protect your silence.
### 3. Data Security
The data for your silence periods is entirely under your control. It is securely stored on your device and can be completely deleted at any time through the "Clear Data" option in the app’s Settings menu.
