My research program investigates how the glycocalyx, the sugar-rich layer that coats the cell surface, controls immune-cell access to target cells and how this barrier can be manipulated to improve cancer immunotherapy. My lab will define how glycocalyx thickness and composition regulate antigen accessibility and immune cell function, using quantitative imaging together with genetic, pharmacological, and enzymatic perturbations. We will use these findings to develop strategies that remodel the tumor cell surface and improve the activity of engineered immune cells.
