Summer Training and Internship Programme
Offered: 8 June–7 July 2026
I designed and delivered this four-week training and internship programme as the Course Instructor. It introduced undergraduate students to molecular modelling, molecular docking, force fields, molecular dynamics simulations using GROMACS, energy minimisation, NVT and NPT equilibration, production simulations, and trajectory analysis. Students gained practical experience with GROMACS, PyMOL, AutoDock Vina, Swiss-Model, Linux, and Gnuplot.
Discipline-Specific Elective covering research-problem formulation, literature surveys, scholarly databases, scientific writing, research and publication ethics, plagiarism, intellectual property rights, chemical safety, and statistical data analysis. Practical components include literature-database creation, citation management, technical writing, curve fitting, scientific presentations, and the safe handling of chemicals.
Discipline-Specific Elective introducing computer systems, Python programming, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, numerical methods, regression analysis, and scientific data visualisation. Students apply computational methods to chemical problems involving equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics, molecular properties, and the Schrödinger equation.
Discipline-Specific Core course covering the laws of thermodynamics, state and path functions, heat, work, internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, and free energy. My teaching focused particularly on thermochemistry, including enthalpies of formation, combustion, neutralisation, hydration, bond dissociation, Kirchhoff’s equation, calorimetry, and related laboratory applications.
Discipline-Specific Core course in physical chemistry. My teaching focused on chemical kinetics, including reaction rates, rate laws, order and molecularity, integrated rate equations, complex reactions, activation energy, the Arrhenius equation, collision and transition-state theories, catalysis, and experimental determination of reaction rates.
An interdisciplinary Value Addition Course open to undergraduate students from different disciplines. It connects the principles of Ayurvedic nutrition with contemporary dietary practices and covers Indian food traditions, nutrients, doshas, Ayurvedic food habits, compatible and incompatible foods, lifestyle management, and the preparation of health-oriented diets.
A practice-oriented Skill Enhancement Course designed to develop essential digital competencies. Major themes include word processing, document formatting and referencing, spreadsheets, formulas, charts, pivot tables, basic data analysis, presentation of information, and introductory database management.
A Generic Elective examining the biological and medicinal roles of metal ions. The course covers essential metals in biomolecules, metal-based diagnostic and therapeutic agents, platinum-based anticancer drugs, metals in commercially available medicines and multivitamins, radiopharmaceuticals, and metal-based contrast agents used in medical imaging.
Hands-on instruction in scientific programming, including variables, data structures, conditional statements, loops, functions, numerical computation, data handling, statistical analysis, and visualisation. Examples and exercises were designed around chemical and scientific datasets.
