Families rent condos, cabins or even houseboats for vacations. This is a condo on wheels! It creates an experience for the family by incorporating the entire journey from the front door to the destination and back as part of the vacation. In 2010, the average family vacation cost $1,000 per family member — that’s a minimum of $4,000 for a family of 4 according to an American Express survey.

Sometimes, you’re just looking for extra space. When family or friends come to town for reunions, weddings or the holidays, the 3-bedroom house you love can become claustrophobic with an additional 4 to 6 people. Park the RV next to the house during the visit to keep everyone nearby or choose one of the great local RV parks to give everyone breathing room.

RV rentals are an ideal alternative for events where all of the hotels are booked. In many cases, you’ll find at least one RV park with vacancy.
