Sand Smash is the number 1 table tennis blog in the Middle East. Sand Smash's main purpose is to advocate for table tennis in the Middle East. Played everywhere, even in the streets, many Middle Easterns do not consider table tennis a sport. They undermind table tennis and do not appreciate players' effort and hard work. Sand Smash aims to change that. Sand Smash hopes to fix everyone's perception of table tennis. Table tennis is an exhilarating sport, and it deserves more.
Hi, I'm Nasraldeen
I started Sand Smash
I am a table tennis player in Saudi Arabia, and I play for Al-Ettifaq. I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, but I am Egyptian. Growing up, people always criticized my sport and said that table tennis is not a real sport, which inspired me to start Sand Smash to advocate for table tennis in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia. I want to create a thriving table tennis community in the region.
I started playing table tennis when I was 9. In the summer, my sister used to train privately, and I used to go with her. This continued for a few summers until I decided I wanted to play the entire year in Saudi Arabia, too. I quit football (soccer) to play table tennis. At the age of 13, I committed to the Al Nahda club. At the age of 15, I transferred to Al-Ettifaq club after Al Nahda club shut down the game due to insufficient prizes, mainly because of the lack of popularity of table tennis in the region.
Even though I started playing the sport late, I enjoy it tremendously. The feeling of adrenaline rushing through my body as I play fast-spinny rallies is incomparable to any other sport. This feeling is the reason I started playing table tennis.
