Over the past six years, I have worked with Dublin City Libraries, where I was promoted to Senior Library Assistant in 2022. I am now in my second year of pursuing an MSc in Information and Library Management. This role has significantly enhanced my organizational skills and deepened my expertise in library management. My goal is to Complete my studies and reach the next grade of Librarian. The wish is to run a branch and give the community an exciting, inspiring and warm place to visit.

Professional Experience

Senior Library Assistant – Promoted - March 2022 - Dublin City Libraries

Duties: As a Senior Library Assistant, I am responsible for supervising junior library staff, providing them with guidance, and ensuring smooth library operations. My administrative duties include cataloguing, processing new materials, and maintaining library records. Additionally, I actively promote library programs, events, and services. I work independently and efficiently without constant supervision, managing tasks effectively. I also lead and motivate my team to achieve performance targets and support the library's mission. Furthermore, I maintain and record monthly statistics, manage requisition needs, process monthly invoices for newspapers and periodicals, and arrange staff breaks and holidays.

· Duties: Assisting patrons with their information literacy needs. Ensuring a high level of customer care at all times. Dealing with deliveries, stock management, and reader promotions. Monitoring and reporting issues with the Library Management System Promotion of digital services, including Surfbox, EResource's and public PCs. Assisting branch librarians with the promotion of services and events for specific groups such as, schools, reading groups, and history groups. Encouraging our elderly patrons with their digital literacy learning, and social interactions as Walkinstown is an age friendly library. Being proactive in the delivery of services to our patrons with special needs using such tools as Tovertafel and our sensory pod and garden. My specific responsibilities include: Stock Management using Collection HQ software. Social media promotion and providing content. Publishing monthly newsletter using Mailchimp software. Hosting talks and workshops via Zoom and MS Teams. Managing the library when senior librarians are off duty.

· Duties: On a daily basis I prepared the shop floor, design areas, merchandise, set up tills and dealt with deliveries and returns. I greeted customers upon arrival, worked on cashiers till, took customer orders. Made out rotas and opened and closed shop.
