Sandpiper Robotics Tournament, 2017

Sandpiper School serves students in grades TK-8th grade. Our VEX robotics program was started by Principal Tamara Moore in 2014 with just 2 teams, 10 students total. Since then, our program consistently has sent teams to VEX Worlds, has hosted the Sandpiper Robotics Tournament and the Bay Area Robotics League, and has provided volunteers for the California State Tournament and VEX Worlds.

For these reasons, in 2018, Sandpiper School was awarded the "Volunteer of the Year Award" at the California State Tournament.

Sandpiper has also provided outreach to students at other schools in our Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, with the result that each of our 7 district schools now hosts robotics teams.

In 2019-2020, Sandpiper has 15 robotics teams, ranging from 3rd graders to 8th graders participating in robotics! We have a robust program that keeps on growing, and the students and parents sincerely thank Principal Moore for her dedication, passion, and leadership in bringing robotics to Sandpiper!
