Katie Longardner, MD, Movement Disorder Specialist, UC San Diego Health.
Dr. Longardner discussed issues that complicate how levodopa, the most common medication taken to relieve motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, is absorbed into the bloodstream. These complications often lead to OFF periods that are more frequent, are less predictable, and last longer. Understanding these issues can improve the effectiveness of levodopa therapy.
