Q2) What races are "nominated"? Will they change during the year?

Q3) How are the points calculated?

A3)
For The Road championship:-
Your WAVA score for each race, including parkruns, will be calculated and turned directly from a percentage into points from 1-100.

Your 6 highest points from nominate races (not parkruns) are added together along with your two highest parkrun points. Overall 8 (eight) races, best scoring 6 nominated and 2 parkruns, will form your points total.

For Off Road championship
Your best 5 races will count. Your score will be awarded in the order you finish as Striders:
1st placed Strider scores 50 points
2nd placed 49 points
3rd placed 48 points

Etc.

Q4) Why is my WAVA score slightly different to those shown by online calculators?

A4) The WAVA calculation we use takes account of how far you are from your next birthday (factional age). Online calculators typically just give a value assuming the date of calculation is your birthday. So for example assume FRED has an WAVA score of 67.4% on his 44th birthday. On his 45th birthday if he ran exactly the same time and race distance his WAVA score could suddenly change to 68.2%. The calculations we use "smooths” these jumps out. As FRED gets nearer to his 45th birthday his WAVA score will approach 68,2%.

You will typically find your WAVA score in the championship is slightly higher than calculated online. The nearer you get to your next birthday the closer the WAVA score will get to the online value for your next birthday.

Q5) What do the colours mean on the results summary table?

A5) The colours represent the best scores from everyone's results. The darker the colour the better the WAVA score.

Q6) How can I check if the races I have completed are included in the results?

A6) There is a separate published race summary page that shows which races and parkruns everyone has completed along with their WAVA score for that race.

Q7) Do I need to let someone know I have taken part in one of the nominated races?

A7) No. We will look at the results from the nominated races and if you have taken part will add them to your total.

However it would be a good idea to post on the clubs Facebook page that you have done a race along with a short race report to let everyone know how it went!
