This course was taught by one of the best professors I could ever ask for. The scope of what I learned was invaluable in my career. I couldn't get anywhere without the proper thinking, and that's what this course taught me. I had to fill the role of the project manager for my team and it was an experience I will not forget.
In charge of other team members and the work we had to deliver on a weekly basis to our project sponsor, I quickly learned to adapt to stressful situations. When there were deliverables that hadn't been accounted for by a team member, I utilized a backup strategy, as I've been taught in the course. I had to make sure to keep in mind the scope of the project, as well as constraints of that project. Utilizing the PMBOK, my team was hard at work trying to think outside of the box to incorporate all manner of ideas and use cases that would not only benefit, but affect the project in any way. Teamwork, communication, and understanding were some of the greatest lessons that this course could give me. In my team I had one member who was actually working three jobs while maintaining his full-time student status. This team member had a difficult submitting work but he always tried his best. It was thanks to this unique and interesting situation that I started reading into the course's text to find strategies to overcome this hurdle. Essentially, the textbook taught me to create backup plans as a safety net for situations like those. I also remembered the lessons of my professor, who taught us the same lesson and tried to get us thinking outside of the box. I learned to not withhold myself from utilizing all of my available resources. I thought, why should I settle for only using what's available in this course? I realized that I can ask professors questions from even outside of my course or school. I learned how to do some better research and how to brainstorm problems for a whole slew of solutions. This skill has served me well in other courses.
At the end of the day, I came out of that ordeal a better person and a stronger leader. It filled me with confidence in this field because it taught me that if I just put in the hard work and help my team and communicate with them effectively, then I can accomplish any goal.
