Course: Ethical Hacking
Project Name: PPN Financial Penetration Testing Proposal
Reasons for this project:
Experience of security policies
Was the final project of the course
Helped to apply proper documentation of security proposals
There were many different operating systems that we worked with and I learned how to navigate through them with proficiency and care. Most importantly, I learned that there are methods to catch cyber criminals that think deleting their data from their hard drives is enough to absolve them. In actuality, your I/O devices leave digital and physical evidence that you would normally overlook. Keeping that in mind, you can use many avenues of information and digital forensics to find evidence.
This project had to be completed in a month's time and was a solo project in the course. The project required the student to create a fictional company and team, however the actual assignment was not team based. It was a bit challenging finding references for the material of this project. One of the main sources was the SANS Institute: Information Security Policies webpage. This helped me to create an index page or glossary of terms for non-IT readers.
Overall, the course was a fantastic one, despite the many hours of work piled up. I would recommend this to anybody seriously interested in security in the IT field. There are certifications available to those willing to take their careers to greater heights.
