Hi, my name is Sanay Jiandani, and I’m a proud member of Los Altos Troop 75 and a junior at Saint Francis High School. As I work toward earning my Eagle Scout rank, I've chosen a project close to my heart: tackling food insecurity. Growing up, I witnessed the struggles of those who lacked access to basic necessities, especially food, that became more pronounced during Covid. This inspired me to take action, by organizing food drives and bake sale fundraisers in elementary school, to volunteering at soup kitchens such as Martha’s Kitchen in middle school. Now, I’m partnering with Martha’s Kitchen in San Jose to take my efforts even further. I am raising $12,000 so I can purchase and convert a school bus to a mobile food pantry, so food supplies and hot meals can be delivered to those that are unable to travel.
Soup kitchens like Martha’s Kitchen work tirelessly to ensure that anyone in need can access a hot meal. But for many, transportation is a barrier—they simply can’t reach the kitchen to receive the meals they rely on. That’s where my Eagle Scout project comes in. Instead of waiting for people to find us, we’ll bring the meals to them. My vision is to repurpose an old school bus into a mobile food pantry, equipped with a refrigerator, shelves, and food warmers, so that families can visit their local park to pick up fresh groceries and hot meals. This project will allow Martha's Kitchen to expand its reach, helping more people in our community. However, transforming this vision into reality requires significant resources. I’m working to raise $12,000 to fund the bus conversion, and I need your support— either through or a direct donation, or by attending one of my fundraising events. Together, we can make sure no one goes hungry.
How YOUR Donation Makes a Difference
If you're reading this far- the bus has been built, but we are still helping Martha's with funds to paint it. All additional funds will go directly to supporting Martha's efforts in fighting food hunger.
Every dollar you give goes directly toward making this vision a reality. Your donation will be used to source materials and cover essential costs to transform the bus into a mobile food pantry. Whether it’s purchasing a refrigerator to keep meals fresh or installing shelves to stock groceries, 100% of your contribution will directly fund the project. I’m aiming to raise $12,000, and I can’t do it alone. With your support, we can make sure that more people in our community have access to nutritious meals, right when they need them the most. Together, we can turn this bus into a lifeline for those facing food insecurity.
