Sanapeli is a daily Finnish word puzzle game. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it is handled. The app does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information.
The following information is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers:
Game progress — words found, points earned for each daily puzzle
Streak statistics — current streak, longest streak, freeze count, last solved date
Lifetime stats — total puzzles played, total words found, total pangrams found
This data remains on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently.
Sanapeli uses Supabase as its backend. The following data is transmitted:
Daily puzzle — the app fetches today's puzzle from our servers when you open the app. No information about you is sent as part of this request beyond what any standard HTTPS request includes (your IP address).
Word suggestions — if you tap "Ehdota sanaa" to suggest a missing word, the following is sent:
The suggested word
The current puzzle date
A randomly generated device identifier (created on first launch, stored locally)
The device identifier is used solely to prevent spam submissions. It cannot be used to identify you personally.
Sanapeli displays ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised ads, including:
Advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID)
IP address and approximate location
Device information (model, OS version)
App usage data
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you will be shown a consent prompt on first launch. You can choose to receive personalised or non-personalised ads. AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
If you grant notification permission, the app may send you a daily reminder to play. Notifications are managed entirely on-device. You can disable them at any time in your device's notification settings.
Local device data — retained until you uninstall the app
Word suggestions — retained on our servers until reviewed; deleted after processing
Server logs — standard Supabase infrastructure logs retained for up to 30 days
If you are located in the EEA, you have the right to:

Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent for personalised advertising at any time
Sanapeli is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
