A warm welcome to my personal website. Born Samuel Iddi on the 29th November, in Tema, Ghana, I am a dynamic Biostatistician and a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Ghana, well equipped with broad knowledge of scientific methodologies and with rich experiences in the application of modern statistical techniques to real-life problems, particularly in public health, clinical and pharmaceutical research. These experiences, skills, and knowledge were acquired through several years of research, teaching, statistical consultancy and advice, and academic projects.
On this website, you can learn more about my research works and activities. I do hope you will visit often to check on new academic and research activities and outputs. Dr. Iddi is a trained and experienced Biostatistician with a rich research portfolio, underpinned by cutting-edge statistical/methodological research and the application of innovative research techniques to advance public health and biomedical research. Iddi is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Ghana. He was an Associate Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), Kenya where his responsibilities included employing advanced methods for the analyses of the longitudinally collected Nairobi Urban Demographic Health Surveillance Survey (NUHDSS) to address a wide range of problems, strengthening Kenya’s County data systems and analytical capacity for evidence-informed policy-making, and leading the design and statistical components of research proposals at the Center. His career research in the development of statistical method has led to novel methods for handling overdispersion, inflation of zero counts, jointly modeling longitudinal outcomes, models for marginalized inference, etc. His research works have also influenced and informed statistical practices. Dr. Iddi is a talented programmer with considerable experience in programming languages such as R, SAS IML, MATLAB, SQL, etc, for the development of computer programs to implement novel statistical methodology, and handling very large and complex datasets such as the DHS, Census data across multiple countries, the Alzhiemer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative and the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative datasets. He is proficient with the creation and deployment of dashboards for data visualization using RShiny, the generation of dynamic reports, tables and complex graphs with R Knitr and Markdown, and the creation of macros/scripts to increase the quality and efficiency with which results are produced. He has collaborated not only with statisticians but also with public health experts, epidemiologist, environmental scientist, neuroscientist, and medical practitioners. He is a recognized trainer in statistical software, statistical methods, data management and analysis, impact evaluation methods, etc. and has provided training workshops and mentorship for researchers and students. His ORCiD number is http://orcid.org/0000-0002-2366-2774.
