Whew!
Laying down the foundations of a brand new website is not easy work. Especially when you're someone as clueless about web design as I am.
All this work is gonna be worth it down the road though. I can smell it!
I've been working on it for a while now, but I think that I'm actually getting closer to having a House Haunters version 2.00!
The first version of house Haunters was great, but I felt like there were some improvements that I wanted to make to the overall formula. Primarily, I wanted to simplify while also retaining the game's strategy elements. It's been a fine balancing act of adding and subtracting, but I like the way it's turning out!
In celebration of the progress that I've been making, I even made a new logo for the game that I uploaded here to the website.
With the first version of House Haunters, I was in such a hurry to get the game done that I really didn't invest all that much time into its artwork. This time around I decided to invest much more time into making the game look nice.
For the past couple months I've been trying out different aesthetics. I finally settled on a fairly simple one. A simple art style is good for two reasons. First, it matches my level of artistic skill. Second, it gives the game a more playful and simple vibe.
The goal is to have House Haunters feel mechanically and aesthetically accessible. That means keeping things as simple and neat as possible while not making the game look boring.
Here's an example of what a Trick card will look like, as well as the back of the card. These aren't the final product, but give an idea of where the art style is headed.
