This Privacy Policy explains how Samtal Child App (“the App”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when installed on a child’s device.

The App is intended to be used only by parents or legal guardians as part of the Samtal parental digital wellbeing system.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with the in-app Parental Consent & Monitoring Policy, which is presented before any child profile is created.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Samtal Child App.

The corresponding parent-facing application has its own separate privacy policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information is collected only after explicit parental consent and may include:

a. App Usage Information

• Application package names

• Foreground usage duration

• App activity timestamps (resume / pause)

b. Installed Applications Information

• List of installed applications on the device

• Application install and update timestamps

c. Notification Information (if enabled)

• Application name generating the notification

• Notification title

• Timestamp of notification receipt

The App does NOT collect:

• Message replies or typed text

• Media content

• Call logs or audio

• Contacts or SMS content

d. Device and Account Identifiers

• A generated device identifier

• Identifiers used to associate the child device with the parent account

e. Background Activity Metadata

• Data sync timestamps

• App health and delivery status (heartbeat signals)

f. Crash and Diagnostic Information

• Crash logs

• Device model

• Operating system version

3. How We Use Information

Collected information is used strictly to:

• Generate screen-time summaries and behavioral insights for parents

• Detect usage trends and changes over time

• Ensure reliable data synchronization

• Improve app stability and performance

Collected data is not used for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Processing

• Core app data is securely stored and processed using Supabase.

• Crash diagnostics and analytics are processed using Firebase services.

• These service providers act as data processors and process data only on our instructions.

5. Data Sharing

• Collected data is shared only with the linked parent account.

• Data is not sold or shared with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

6. Background Data Collection

The App may collect usage and notification information in the background to ensure accurate daily and weekly insights.

Background processing is limited to essential functionality and optimized to minimize battery impact.

7. Children’s Privacy and Legal Compliance

Samtal Child App is designed to comply with applicable child privacy laws, including COPPA and GDPR-K:

• Data collection occurs only with verified parental consent

• Data is accessible only to the linked parent account

• Data is not made public or used for behavioral advertising

8. Data Retention

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service.

Parents may request deletion of child data or unlink the child device at any time, after which data will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Parental Rights and Controls

Parents or legal guardians may:

• Review collected data via the parent app

• Revoke permissions from device settings

• Pause or stop monitoring by deleting the App

• Request account and data deletion

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect collected information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

11. Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.

Material changes will be communicated within the App or parent application.
