Even with all the other ways we have to receive messages today, voicemail is still a useful tool for ensuring people can get hold of us when busy lives take over. It is easy to assume that voicemail is automatically activated when you start using a new Samsung phone, but often that is not the case.

Voicemail is a service provided by your mobile carrier. The number you need to dial will be available as soon as you insert a SIM card into your phone. With some cell providers inserting a SIM card (or setting up an eSIM) is all you have to do, but many of them require you to set up your voicemail before you begin using it.

As well as testing that the service is working, the easiest way to hear what your personal voicemail greeting sounds like is to call your cell number from another phone. Don't worry if you don't like the message or want to change it for any reason, as you can do so easily.

Most voicemail settings are changed by calling the voicemail number and using the automated menu. One of the few things you can control on your Samsung phone is the notification that alerts you to new messages.

To be able to listen to your voicemails from a phone number other than your own, you will need to have a security code set up. If you have not already done this, you can set one up by calling the voicemail number and following the instructions in the automated menu.

Voicemail is a very useful tool, especially if you lead a busy life. Setting it up on your Samsung phone is easy and takes just minutes. If you haven't set up your voicemail yet, do it today and you won't miss any important messages.

Thanks Ron but no its not in the Store it comes with the newest Telus update i have talked with Telus and they say its up to Samsung and i talk to Samsung and they say its up to Telus

i looked on Package Id app and it says " com.samsung.vvm " but i cant get that name to work

I've recently picked up an A71 thanks to the sale. I'm not a big fan of the added Samsung software that can't be disabled, but otherwise I'm enjoying the phone so far, but there is one major issue...there's no way to access my visual voicemail from the google phone app so there's no way to get the voicemail transcription. The voicemail tab in the google phone app does not even show up. There is the 'visual voicemail' app from Samsung, but it does not have the transcription available.

I have been talking to fi support for the past few days that has only led me to deleting cache/data for various apps over and over again and finally doing a factory reset...but nothing fixes the problem. I have also tried some 'fixes' that I've found through googling, but still no voicemail tab.

I never used the default voicemail app - I would just long press "1" on my key pad and call the Verizon servers directly. Over time, I'd apparently accumulated 10 saved voicemails. I was still able to receive new voicemails, mailbox wasn't full, but was just never getting any notifications about them.

Today I opened the default Samsung voicemail app and saw something in the settings indicating there was a 10 message max for the app. So I archived the voicemails I wanted to keep to my phone - basically clearing off the Verizon server and the app.

Indicator not working on Samsung S22. to alert me that I have a new voicemail. Seems to be an ongoing problems with no information on how to fix it. I'm missing important voicemails and I even pay extra for the visual voice on Verizon.

Voicemails get left by individuals, with no notifications arriving to phone... some voicemails get dumped perhaps a week after they were left. I have been through numerous agents level 2 and same troubleshooting steps every time. Very annoying.

I had the exact same issue on my Samsung S21 Ultra that I traded in for this new S23 Ultra... same issue. Basic visual voicemail does not notify you that you have any voicemails... you can open the app and look and there are none. then later I open it and see 10 emails all over 1 week old.

I want to be able to pick up the phone or turn it on and see a notification that I have a voicemail. I want to be able to go to the visual voicemail app and see that I have a voicemail. That doesn't happen right now until I go into the app and manually refresh it.

I need to reset a users voicemail code so that they can access their voicemail. I believe this has to be done via a handset connected to the phone system after logging in as the Technician( Transfer > 800 > Enter Technician Passcode >...). From then on in, I have no idea which option I use to reset a users voicemail code.

Note: Voicemail feature is not available in all countries. It is available in the USA, for example. So do check with your service provider before trying to set up voicemail on your Android phone.

3. Once the Voicemail page is open, tap on the Voicemail number. A pop-up will appear. Enter the voicemail number given by your service provider and then tap on OK.

1. Open Voicemail settings by following steps 1 and 2 above. Once the voicemail page is open, tap on the Voicemail number. A pop-up will open with the voicemail number you previously set. Replace that with the new number you want to set for the voicemail and tap OK to save changes.

1. Again navigate to Voicemail settings by following steps 1 and 2. Once the voicemail page is open, tap on the Voicemail number. A pop-up will open with the previously set voicemail number. Tap on Delete or backspace button to remove that number and tap OK to save changes.

5. Enter the Voicemail number provided by your service provider, then tap on OK. A message will confirm that the voicemail number has changed. Tap on OK.

Removing the voicemail number is pretty similar to changing one. So if you want to remove the voicemail number, just repeat the above steps 1 and 2 (Changing/Deleting Voicemail Number on other Android Smartphones). Instead of replacing the number, just delete it and tap on OK. It will say Voicemail number changed, and the voicemail number will be removed from the system.

I've tried to use third-party apps to download my messages (e.g., "voicemail saver" that is paid and "visual voice mail & missed call alert" that is free), but none of these apps worked to recover these messages.

Hi, I have a Samsung galaxy S10 plus and for the past few weeks the 'new voicemail' icon at the top of the screen has appeared occasionally. When I ring voicemail there are no new messages. The icon might stay on for a day or two before it goes off by itself. Restarting the phone doesn't clear it, neither does listening to the message, blocking the number or turning off voicemail. Any idea what's happening anyone?

Hi, there is no voicemail there, it's from Sky but when I call voicemail the automated service says there are no new messages. I thought it might be a fault with the phone but now my wife has the same icon on her, different phone I suspect it's a problem with Sky mobile.

I had the same issue with iPhone 12 Pro and tried everything detailed above except leaving myself a voicemail message. I left myself a message used the short phone number to access sky voicemail. The icon has since disappeared.

This would usally get rid of it but if you have the glitch seems to be samsung side as even when deleting all voicemail the icon stays but after a couple updates it has disappeared and has only returned once since i personally had the original issue

As Plusnet mobile is an MVNO, we do have a basic voicemail service which may not always have the same functionality as the big 3 networks. We tend to find that the voicemail notifications do vary from handset to handset, some handsets do allow you to manually enable the notifications, but this is not something we can do via the network.

@OliGaffney @HashBrown5 I can now confirm now the problem is with the plusnet voicemail servers. I have just switched to Virgin Mobile and now get voicemail notifications on my Samsung S8. Not settings changed, just different sim card!
