Privacy Policy — Samsung Remote

This Privacy Policy explains how the Samsung Remote app ("the App") handles information. The App is a remote control for Samsung Smart TVs that operates entirely on your local Wi-Fi network.
Data we collect
The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with us or any third-party server.
The following information is stored only on your device, in the App's private local storage:
The IP address, friendly name, model, MAC address, and pairing token of each Samsung TV you connect to.
A flag indicating whether you have completed the onboarding screen.
A flag indicating whether you have purchased the one-time "Pro" unlock.
This information never leaves your device. It is used solely so the App can reconnect to your TV automatically, wake it via Wake-on-LAN, and remember your unlock status across launches.
Network access
The App communicates only with devices on your local Wi-Fi network:
It sends SSDP discovery packets (UDP multicast to 239.255.255.250) to find Samsung TVs.
It opens a WebSocket connection to your TV on ports 8001 / 8002 to send remote-control commands.
It sends Wake-on-LAN magic packets (UDP broadcast to ports 7 and 9) to wake your TV.
The App does not contact any servers operated by us. It does not include analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind.
Permissions
Internet, Network state, Wi-Fi state, Wi-Fi multicast — required to discover and control your TV on the local network.
Vibrate — for tactile feedback when you press a button.
Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — required by Google Play for the optional one-time "Pro" unlock.
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos, or any other personal data.
Third-party services
The App uses two services provided by Google, which operate under Google's own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy):
Google Play Billing — processes the optional one-time "Pro" purchase. We receive only a confirmation that the purchase succeeded; we never receive your payment details.
Google Play In-App Updates — checks whether a newer version of the App is available on the Play Store.
We do not receive personal data from either of these services.
Children
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, the updated version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date above will change.
