The issue is that for our R3 WiFi chip, the WiFi firmware assumed one part of the WiFi standard meant that within the connection string, one of the parameters would never have additional information. They put in a filter and refused connections that had any additional parameters.

We are pushing this firmware upgrade from our end proactively and you should see no interruption in service. If you do, please let me know and we will address it. The upgrade should be completed by tomorrow afternoon.

I have tried using Kies v.2.6, as well as v.3. Neither of them detect the phone. I downloaded Odin and a Samsung S4 firmware image, and attempted to flash it, but received a FAIL error towards the end. However, with so many versions of Odin, as well as the firmware builds available, not to mention the options and toggles available within Odin, I have no way of knowing if I'm doing this correctly.

I have used Heimdall to flash firmware to my Galaxy S4 before, but I ran into problems more recently getting it installed on El Capitan. I happened to experience intermittent USB errors (libusbx: error [submit_bulk_transfer] bulk transfer failed (dir = In): no connection to an IOService (code = 0xe00002c0)) during several attempts. By trial and error, I noticed that the errors were more common on the large system.img.ext4 file and had moved it to the final pass. By flashing the recovery and boot partitions first, I noticed the benefit of bringing online the firmware recovery process, which could open up some additional possible alternatives like ADB sideloading. Absent of any issues, I believe the flashing could be done in one pass, but I haven't confirmed.

My speakerphone isn't working correctly..Whenever I switch to speaker phone in a call /video call the other person cannot hear me. If you own a Samsung phone and enjoy rooting or modding your device, flashing official firmware can be very useful. Odin is Samsung's own internal program for loading such updates for testing purposes, and it's quite easy to use for your own custom modification needs.

If you're looking for the actual firmware you need to flash, it can sometimes be difficult to locate online. For any older Samsung device, the best place to look is typically in the corresponding XDA forum. Many users post stock and beta firmware in these forums. If you are lucky enough to have a recent Samsung flagship, you can download the desired firmware from the Samsung Firmware Science website.
