If you want advanced noise cancellation, seamless AI integration for travel, and high-fidelity audio in a secure in-ear design, choose SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3; if you need all-day open-ear comfort, extended battery life for long journeys, and the ability to stay aware of your surroundings while flying, choose Monster Open Ear AC336.
• SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3: The biggest strength is its active noise cancellation and immersive sound quality with Bluetooth 5.4 and 24-bit/96kHz support, but the trade-off is that it requires a Samsung device to unlock full AI features and offers less situational awareness due to its sealed fit. This pick is for the tech-savvy traveler who prioritizes silence and call clarity on flights.
• Monster Open Ear AC336: The standout feature is the ergonomic open-ear clip-on design that prevents ear fatigue during long wear, paired with an impressive 21-hour total playtime, though it lacks active noise cancellation and relies on passive isolation. This pick is for the commuter who needs to hear announcements and wants to avoid the pressure of in-ear buds.
The SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3 are engineered for those who demand a premium, immersive listening experience where external distractions are unwanted. If you are looking for memory foam ear cushions headband headphones for flights, these earbuds offer a different kind of solution by using a dynamic driver and a sealed in-ear design to create a physical barrier against cabin noise. The inclusion of Adaptive Noise Cancellation means they actively work to cancel out the low-frequency drone of an airplane engine, providing a level of tranquility that open-ear designs simply cannot match.
For the frequent flyer who values crystal-clear communication, the Buds3 integrate Super Wideband microphones enhanced by Galaxy AI. This technology captures a wider bandwidth of voice frequencies, reconstructing lost bits to ensure your voice sounds natural even when the background is chaotic. Whether you are taking a business call from the gate or speaking with a companion, the audio fidelity remains sharp. The Bluetooth 5.4 connection further stabilizes this link, reducing dropouts that can be frustrating when boarding or moving through crowded terminals.

However, this product is not for everyone. You should skip the Galaxy Buds3 if you find any pressure in your ear canal uncomfortable or if you need to remain constantly aware of your environment without removing the earbuds. While they are IP57 water and dust resistant, making them durable enough for sweaty workouts or sudden rain, their reliance on specific Android ecosystems means some advanced features like real-time language translation will only function fully on compatible Samsung devices. They are best suited for users who prioritize deep immersion and technical performance over situational awareness.
The Monster Open Ear AC336 targets a completely different user profile: the person who refuses to compromise on comfort for the sake of audio quality. With an open-ear design, these clips sit gently on the outer ear rather than plugging into the canal, eliminating the "plugged-up" feeling that many travelers hate after a few hours of wear. This makes them an ideal alternative if you are searching for the best with microphone wireless earbuds for flights but struggle with the discomfort of traditional in-ear models. You can listen to music or take calls without blocking out the world entirely, allowing you to hear flight attendants or gate changes naturally.
Battery life is a massive selling point here. With up to 21 hours of total playtime including the charging case, these earbuds can easily last through a transcontinental flight with layovers, whereas other options might require a mid-journey recharge. The 13mm drivers coupled with Qualcomm apt-X HD decoding deliver rich, detailed stereo sound that punches above its weight for an open-ear device. While they do not have active noise cancellation, the Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) on the microphone side helps isolate your voice during calls, ensuring the person on the other end hears you clearly despite the ambient hum of the aircraft.
The trade-offs are significant if you are in a particularly noisy section of the plane or prefer a quiet bubble. Without a seal, bass response is naturally different compared to in-ear models, and you cannot block out crying babies or loud engines. Additionally, the build relies on plastic materials which are lightweight but may feel less robust than metal alternatives. These earbuds are perfect for the casual listener, the sports enthusiast, or the traveler who values safety and comfort above total silence.

After weighing the specifications and use cases, I would buy the SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3 for my own travel needs. While the Monster Open Ear AC336 wins on battery life and comfort, the active noise cancellation on the Galaxy Buds3 provides a necessary sanctuary from the constant roar of an airplane engine. The ability to use high-resolution audio codecs and the AI-enhanced microphone system make it a far superior tool for both entertainment and productivity while flying. For anyone prioritizing a true escape from the chaos of transit, the extra cost and ecosystem requirements are worth the investment in peace and clarity.
The Monster Open Ear AC336 might be too bulky for side sleepers due to the clip design, while the SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3 are smaller but the pressure of the stem could still be uncomfortable depending on your sleeping position.
Yes, advanced features like real-time language translation and specific AI optimizations only work with Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 8.0 or later; they will still function as standard Bluetooth earbuds with other phones.
The SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3 utilize Super Wideband microphones with AI voice optimization for clearer calls in noisy environments, whereas the Monster Open Ear AC336 uses Environmental Noise Cancellation to reduce background noise during calls but lacks the same bandwidth depth.
Both are suitable, but the Monster Open Ear AC336 is designed specifically for sports with its secure clip-on fit and sweat resistance, while the SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds3 are IP57 rated for water and dust, making them rugged enough for fitness as well.
