Custom computer controlled camera pan/tilt/slide.

  • This was an extra thing I worked on for fun that didn't make it in to the final work.
  • A precision pan/tilt/slide rig I designed and built for moving a single infrared camera for multiple view reconstruction.
  • It uses a Galil motion controller, Gecko stepper drives, and Oriental Motor 0.9 degree steppers.
  • The mechanical drive consists of GT2 2mm pitch belts and pulleys purchased from SDP/SI and various thrust/rotary bearings from McMaster-Carr.
  • The slides and pillow blocks are made by Thompson. I made the rail supports on my mill.
  • All the flat pieces are aluminum and I made them on my mini mill. I had a couple multi-step washers made at a local shop.
